All Over - A Blues Play
by Jamie J. Brunson
90 Minutes
ALL OVER answers the question: What would you say to the father that abandoned you, if you met him in Hell?” with live Blues music and poetic drama. In life, Red-Eyed abandoned his son Clive for a career as a Bluesman. Clive, determined to be a better man than his father, went to war promising to return home a hero. He didn’t. ALL OVER takes place in Red-Eyed’s room in Purgatory, where the Bluesman relives his life’s mistakes over and over again. When Clive dies suddenly, both men find themselves together again, stuck in Purgatory with a stranger called Usherman. Now the Bluesman must answer for leaving his only son. Both men will have to face what their decisions did to the women who loved them. Immediately following the play will be an audience talkback with the production team. There you can share with us your "Father" story.

Painting is not about pretty pictures and what looks good hanging in your living room. It’s about experiencing the emotions and secrets hidden deep within. Its exploring the human body, to understand someone else and lose yourself in knowing that part of another person. Creating art in all forms is my passion. I lose myself in my own art and communicate my authentic self with each stroke. It is a difficult task to describe my work in words. One thing I am not, is a realistic painter. I paint what my minds sees and my body feels. I paint with an array of muted hues and thick strokes. I graduated from Delaware College of Art & Design in 2007 and studied at Moore College of Art and Tyler School of Art. I currently reside in Delaware. I have had solo exhibitions at OneShot Coffee, Dada Rug Art Gallery in Philly, and North Wilmington Library in Delaware and participated in collaborative shows at Delaware College of Art and Design and HomeSkooled Gallery.

Pieces include dance set to traditional North Indian "Bhojpuri" music, a Jazz song rendered by an Indo/Afro Caribbean poet and a celebratory conclusion on thuderous drum beats of "Tassa."

My Ebullient Creatures live somewhere between Bohemian, PBS and embracing the joy of the child within! Over the years, I have created over 100 animal paintings, each with distinctive and abstract patterns reflecting something wonderful about the creature I’ve just painted. Each painting is designed so you view it as a whole, at the same time you’re happily distracted by fun elements that delight your eye. This artwork is enchanting to look at and expressive in its wonderful forms. Paintings are primarily in gouache, with some in watercolor, and others with gilded inks. Imagination and creativity fly off the paper in these pieces. They’re meant to inspire joy!

Folksy Art by Stephanie Geffert

A blank canvas stares up at me in the same way that a blank notebook always did; just waiting to be filled with ideas, creativity, and imagination. I find that there is great beauty and inspiration in all things if you look closely enough. One of the first things to inspire me to paint was a photograph of my daughter; her photographs continue to inspire me as an artist. I am also inspired by my own poetry or other writings. Ideas for artwork come from many sources including photographs, music, fashion, tattoos, a subconscious doodle, or even a suggestion. The subjects that I choose to work with in my paintings include animals, nature, flowers, love/romance, butterflies, faeries and poetry because those are the elements of life that are closest to my own familiarity. My style is folksy yet contemporary. Folksy was chosen to describe my artwork early on because of its friendly and unassuming style. I enjoy painting in a bold and fresh way that is unique and slightly rebellious in that it doesn’t follow what doesn’t come from my own heart. The pen and paintbrush I wear on my sleeve and I paint and write to that hole that’s in my chest to share the stories that are within me and will always surround me for journeys and journeys to come mixing the past, present and future into one.

Foolhardy, a new work by Patrick Combs. What you are seeing is Patrick developing the new show live in front of the audience without a script. It’s a constantly changing piece and can be radically different each performance. Patrick developed his last show, "Man 1, Bank 0" the same way. He has performed that show over 200 times in many different countries, and continues to tour it, including a 25 show tour through Ireland this June. Man 1, Bank 0 is scripted tightly these days, but like Foolhardy, it wasn't for the first 50 performances or so. Thank you for appreciating Patrick's development process, even if the show is rough. You are now officially part of the development of Foolhardy as Patrick will take the audience's reaction into consideration each night to make revisions. It's good to be Foolhardy. It creates beautiful things. It just can feel so damn dangerous.

He Was Either Well and Over It, Or Lost and Gone Forever
by pillardance company
45 Minutes
“He Was Either Well and Over It, Or Lost and Gone Forever” is pillardance company’s love letter to all of the fans of great rock music that are out there. This dance piece, at its core, is wholly centered and anchored by the epic rock music that will accompany the dancing. All of the dances are mostly abstract works that are driven by the night’s soundtrack: five tracks of face-melting, heart-pounding, ear-ringing music that kicks ass in its purest form, from the psychedelic/progressive rock of Pink Floyd to the arena rock opera mega-band that is Queen. If you're ready to see some fresh, modern choreography, and if you prefer your dancers in leather jackets instead of tutus, this is the show for you.

Juxtaposed
by Pieces of a Dream, Inc.
60 Minutes
What is the opposite of guilt? Of hope? Of solitude? Pieces of a Dream Dance Theatre explore these concepts that are common in our human existence. In “Juxtaposed,” we examine paired opposites through the medium of modern dance. Continuing in the Pieces of a Dream, Inc. tradition of presenting dance works that are meaningful and socially relevant, “Juxtaposed” is a series of vignettes, conceived of by our award-winning choreographers, which are thought-provoking and powerful. The performance will at times challenge and at time reiterate social mores. Our goal is to disconnect these supposed opposites, and perhaps find more similarities than expected. In addition to performances by the Pieces of a Dream, Inc. first company, the evening will also feature performances by our excellent young-adult company P*D2. The primarily modern choreography is influenced by a variety of movement styles, including lyrical, jazz, ballet, and hip hop. Expand your mind and determine your juxtaposition.

I’ve always thought that George Bernard Shaw had it right when he observed that a fool’s brain digests art into pedantry. The enjoyment and appreciation of art so often seems hijacked by pompous snobs armed with overweening self-importance as they command troops of abused thesauri. For myself, I say only this: art should entertain before it does anything else. Absurdity, humor and the eradication of sacred cows are the only possible saviors for art and, by extension, for us. Science/Fiction (composed of five different pieces)
by Mimi Owens
0 Minutes
Science/Fiction exists in a realm where nature and art comingle and are only distinguishable with vagueness or contention. Found material becomes artifact and the lines between science and art, what is natural and unnatural, and what is real and fictionalized, are called into question. There is a playful quality to the question of these boundaries because of a profound awareness that human interference in the realm of natural materials is essentially childish given the intricacy, complexity, and delicacy of the very fabrics of nature and the organic mechanisms by which they are produced. This childishness calls to mind the relative ignorance but high degree of curiosity and wonder in the early "mad" scientists of the eighteenth-century, as well as the Frankensteinian monster itself, arguably the first science fiction character in literature. Beyond the gimmick of having to manipulate natural materials in order for them to be seen as art, there exists a beauty or “pretty damn cool-ness” that is maintained in them throughout the process.

Sketches, Collection 2

As I ventured through social media, I became fascinated by the kind of photos that people would post, and what it revealed about themselves and others. I began to sketch these photos, electronically, using a Wacom mouse-pen and tablet in Photoshop. Some of the people are actual friends, others are friends and acquaintances I've made through social media, and others are complete strangers. Because I'm interested in figures, the pictures I have chosen to sketch have have been images that accentuate that. I now have a very large collection and my journey has taken me down some interesting paths. I have made several connections in the belly dance, burlesque, ballet, theater, music and Burning Man communities of performers, along with everyday people not involved with the performing arts. I tend to draw first and seek approval for the finished product later, but the response has been overwhelmingly positive to what I am trying to do and has led me to other connections. I have also found that in spending time with these subjects in this way, I feel that I have come to know some things about who they are through facial expression, body language and the ways in which they have chosen to present themselves in this public way. I feel that since these images were chosen and created using electronic devices, that is the best way to present them. Also, the way the frames transition quickly from image to image mimics the way we browse through photos online.
